Poem Respond 4

I respond to Noa's and Kate's poems.

I really like this poem, it has lot’s of imagery and rhymes in it.   When Noa says “I send my thoughts to light Where the clouds don't go And the rain never hovers”  I know that is personification, but what does that mean? Where is the light are you thinking of god in a way?  You seem a little depressed in this poem.  When Noa says “ As hatred raps around me” How are the haters and what are they raping about?  Do you just mean like people saying bad stuff about you?  When Noa says “ Let the light swarm me” What do you mean by the light? Do you mean happiness and good people?
When Noa saysThe clouds would get swept away”  Do you think that clouds are bad? That they should go away or just bad people and their mean thoughts?

Good but strange poem, seems like you are speaking from a abstract noun.  Don’t know what abstract noun it is. They way i first read it didn’t make sense, but then when i read it over it makes more sense it’s really long and a good poem.  There is a lot of imagery in the poem, like when kate says “Visiting where the blue runs free” I really like that line, it stand out and it’s good:)  I really also like these couple of lines. Glare of wondering Easy breezes on afternoons Where I will not catch.” Great poem and nice job.

My name is Jahria papaya coconut head
My rhymes are so good they’ll turn ya to lead
I just layed down and got in my bed
My skill will surround you and turn you red

I have a little dog that kills all the hogs
He’s tough like me and a little bit rough
He my look small, but he is made of the good stuff

I dubstepped into town, I’m the king with the crown
Ashes ashes you all fall down
The sound of my bass will crush your face

Limericks

There once was a women named marry
Who was a bit to hairy
She didn't shave her face
Who walked around in discrace
Until she met a fairy

There was once a snail
He always through up in a pail
His name is Jo
He moved so slow
It was easy to follow his trail

Caden full in a big blue plane
Even through everyone knew he was insain
He flew in the clouds
He is so proud
He flew above the rain

Recipe For A Hippopotamus Sandwich

A hippo sandwich is easy to make.
All you do is simply take
One slice of bread,
One slice of cake,
Some mayonnaise
One onion ring,
One hippopotamus
One piece of string,
A dash of pepper -
That ought to do it.
And now comes the problem…
Biting into it!                                                                                       -Sheldon Allan Silverstein

There is a lot of imagery language i can picture the sandwich, I can see it.  There is a lot of repetition, he says “one” almost every line.  There is rhyming spread out at the end of each line, take cake, ring string.  Seems like a Lyric poem.  There is lots of beat.  The starting to middle to end is good how he talks about,  A hippo sandwich is easy to make all you need is, and he says in the middle the list of ingredients and at the end he says now the problem is how do you biting into it.

Tyger

Tyger! Tyger! burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?
- William Blake
There is a repetition where he says tyger tyger, it wouldn’t sound good if there was just one tyger.  Figurative Language where He says “Burning bright” The Tyger is not really burning, but like a bright orange burning in his face and how ferocious the tyger is big and strong.  It’s odd that he is spelling tyger that why instead of the normal why “Tiger”.  Eye and symmetry are approximate rhymes they're similar, but not perfect.  There is rhythm in the first two lines
Tyger! Tyger! burning bright. In the forests of the night.  Burning Bright is imagery, it makes me visualize a bright orange tyger in the forest.  In the two last lines he is talking about how, What immortal hand or eye, Could frame thy fearful symmetry.  I think that immortal hand or eye might be like God and how could he make something so wonderful.

Hug O'War
from the book "Where the Sidewalk Ends" (1974)

I will not play at tug o' war.
I'd rather play at hug o' war,
Where everyone hugs
Instead of tugs,
Where everyone giggles
And rolls on the rug,
Where everyone kisses,
And everyone grins,
And everyone cuddles,
And everyone wins.

This poet is a famous writer, This poem is from his book called “Where the Sidewalk Ends”.  I remember my mom reading this book to me when i was a little kid, I loved his poems.  There is lots of Rhythm in the poem, I like the beat of the repetition, He says everyone almost every line.  There is a lot of rhyming everywhere in the poem. There are Approximate rhymes in the poem where he is rhyming at the end of every line, every word goes together like, hugs, tugs, rug and giggles and cuddles.  It seems like this poem is a free verse, all the rhyming is spread out.  There is figurative language, he says I will not play at tug o' war.
I'd rather play at hug o' war, hug of war is not real but we get what he is saying.  In this poem it seems like he is against war and he just wants peace instead of everyone fighting in war.  He says at first that he doesn’t like War then he explains why and at the end he says everyone wins.  I think this is a lyric poem.

Things I like to eat (Magnetic Poetry)

I love to eat smooth repulsive fingers & chocolate milk
With pink sausage and sweet black puppy meat
smelly boiling eggs, delirious in honey
blue juice and purple tongue drool
